Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how DGI Unlimited LLC ("DGI," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use CinematicLab at cinematiclab.ai, get one of our free downloads, create an account, subscribe, or read our emails.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Free downloads. To get a free download, you give us your first name and email address. We also note which download you asked for and when.
  • Your account. When you create an account, Clerk, our sign-in provider, collects your email address, any name you add, and your password or other sign-in details. If you sign up or sign in with Google or Discord, that service shares your name or username, email address, and profile picture with Clerk, and it knows you used it to sign in here. We keep your email address and first name on our contact list and record when you last signed in.
  • Your subscription. You pay on a checkout page run by Stripe, which collects your card details and the billing details it needs, like your name and address. We never receive your full card number. Before you pay, you confirm on that page that you're 18 or older and agree to our Terms of Service, and Stripe keeps a record that you did. Stripe tells us your subscription status, when your billing period ends, whether your subscription is set to cancel, and how much you've paid us in total, and we keep that with your account. If you use a free trial code, we note that you've used it.
  • Messages you send us. If you email us or reply to one of our emails, we get your email address and whatever you write.

Information we collect automatically

  • Google Analytics. When it runs, Google Analytics records the pages you view, how you reached the site, and general details like your device, browser, and approximate location. It uses cookies that give your browser a random ID. Section 4 explains when it runs.
  • Where you came from. When allowed, we save a random visitor ID and where you came from in your browser's local storage. That means the site that sent you, any campaign tags in the link (UTM tags), the first page you landed on, and the time. When you open the sign-up page, we send that information to our database. When you create an account, we attach it to your account and contact record. This shows us which videos, posts, and links bring people to CinematicLab.
  • Email activity. Our email provider, Resend, tells us when an email we sent you is delivered, opened, or clicked, and when it bounces or gets marked as spam. Opens are counted with a tiny image that loads when you open the email. We keep the time of your first open and first click for each email.
  • Technical information. Whenever you load a page, our hosting provider, Vercel, and our sign-in provider, Clerk, receive technical information like your IP address and browser type. Vercel needs it to deliver the site, and Clerk checks on every page whether you're signed in. We use the country your IP address points to, and in the US the state, only to decide which privacy choice applies to you.

Information from other places

  • If you subscribed to or tried Cinematic Prompt Director, our earlier product on Whop, we added your name and email address to our email list.
  • If you gave us your email address through our Linktree page, we added it to our email list.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • give you the free download you asked for
  • run your account, unlock the app when you subscribe, stop a second charge when you already have a membership, and limit free trials to one per person
  • send you a confirmation when you subscribe, with your renewal and cancellation terms
  • send you marketing emails, as described in section 5
  • see how the site is used and which videos, posts, and links bring people here
  • see how our emails perform, and stop emailing addresses that bounce, complain, or unsubscribe
  • keep the site and our services secure, and meet our legal obligations

3. When we share information

We share personal information with the companies that run parts of CinematicLab for us:

  • Clerk runs accounts and sign-in.
  • Stripe runs payments and subscriptions.
  • Supabase hosts the database with our contact list, account and billing IDs, subscription status, traffic sources, and email activity.
  • Resend sends our emails and reports delivery, opens, and clicks.
  • Google provides Google Analytics.
  • Vercel hosts the site.

We may also share personal information:

  • For legal and safety reasons. When the law requires it, to respond to valid legal requests, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
  • In a business transaction. If DGI or CinematicLab is part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.
  • At your direction. When you ask us to.

We don't sell your personal information.

4. Cookies, analytics, and your privacy choice

Two things on CinematicLab need your choice: Google Analytics, and remembering where you came from. Here's how the choice works.

  • In the European Union, the rest of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and California, and anywhere we can't tell where you are, neither one runs unless you allow it.
  • Everywhere else, including the rest of the United States, both run until you turn them off.
  • If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we turn both off unless you then turn them back on yourself.

You can allow both at once, or choose each one under Customize. Your choices apply to the browser you make them on. Change them anytime with Privacy choices in the footer, or here:

When you turn analytics off, we switch off Google Analytics and delete its cookies. When you turn off remembering where you came from, we delete the visitor ID and traffic source saved in your browser. Turning something off stops new collection. It doesn't delete what was already sent, and section 8 explains how to ask us to delete that.

We've switched off Google Analytics' advertising features, including Google signals and ad personalization, and there are no advertising trackers on the site. Apart from the service providers in section 3 and the sound file in section 11, no other company collects information about your activity through our pages. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. There's no agreed standard for it, so the site doesn't change anything when it gets one. Global Privacy Control is different, and we honor it as described above.

What's saved in your browser

Names without "(cookie)" are kept in your browser's local storage. Stripe's checkout pages set their own cookies under Stripe's privacy policy. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings.

5. Marketing emails

Our marketing emails go to people who get a free download, people who create an account, and the people from Whop and Linktree described in section 1. They include tips and free guides, offers and free trial codes for CinematicLab, reminders if you start checkout and don't finish, and promotions for our other products, like the guides we sell on Gumroad.

To unsubscribe, click the unsubscribe or opt-out link in one of our emails, or email us at info@dgiunlimited.com. Unsubscribing stops all our marketing emails to that address. If one still reaches you, email us and we'll remove you by hand.

The sign-in and verification emails Clerk sends for your account aren't marketing, so unsubscribing doesn't stop them. The confirmation we send when you subscribe isn't marketing either, so unsubscribing doesn't stop it.

6. Data retention

  • We keep your contact record while you're on our list. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on it, marked as unsubscribed.
  • We keep account and subscription records while you have an account, and after that for as long as we need them for our business, tax, and accounting records.
  • We keep email activity and traffic-source records to measure what works.
  • Google Analytics keeps its data for up to 14 months, then deletes it.
  • What's saved in your browser stays until you clear it, and the analytics and traffic-source items go as soon as you turn them off.

Apart from Google Analytics, we don't delete these records on a fixed schedule. They stay until you ask us to delete them or we no longer need them.

7. Data security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information. The site only loads over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Card details go straight to Stripe and passwords straight to Clerk, so neither touches our servers. Messages between our services are signed so we can check they're genuine, and the keys to our database are never sent to your browser.

No way of storing or sending information is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. Please don't send passwords or card numbers by email.

8. Your choices and privacy rights

  • Privacy choices. Turn analytics and traffic-source memory on or off anytime with Privacy choices in the footer.
  • Marketing emails. Unsubscribe as described in section 5.
  • Your account and subscription. Subscribers can update their account details from the account menu in the app, and Manage Subscription in the app opens Stripe's billing page for their subscription.
  • Access, correction, and deletion. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to how we use it. To make a request, email us at info@dgiunlimited.com. We may need to confirm your identity first.

We won't treat you differently for using any of these rights.

9. Visitors outside the United States

CinematicLab is run from the United States, so your information is transferred to and processed in the United States. In the European Union, the rest of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, Google Analytics and traffic-source memory run only if you allow them.

We rely on your consent for analytics and traffic-source memory, and for marketing emails when you sign up for them on CinematicLab. We use the rest of your information to provide the download, account, or subscription you ask for, for our legitimate interest in running and securing the site and keeping unsubscribe records, and to meet legal obligations like tax records.

You can ask to access, correct, delete, or move your information, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw your consent anytime without affecting what happened before. Email us at info@dgiunlimited.com. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.

10. Children's privacy

CinematicLab is built for adult creators and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email us at info@dgiunlimited.com and we'll delete it.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We'll post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information we already have, we'll tell you by email or with a notice on the site before it takes effect.
